Neustadt has preserved the atmosphere of a typical nice small town. In the surrounding area with its picturesquely rural ambiance you can find old villages surrounded by mountains, forests , moor and marsh.
The recreation area Steinhuder Meer, the largest lake in northern Germany is only 7 km away.
Inside Neustadt you can find the cistercian monastry Mariensee, the castle " Landestrost" which hosts a peat museum and champagne production facilities, a watermill in the district of Laderholz or the post mill in Dudensen. The ancient city hall, the church " Liebfrauenkirche" or the old guard house are also worth a visit. All sights can easily be reached by bike and with its numerous forest tracks. Neustadt is a paradise for hiking and cycling.
